Sam Mac

The staff at St Elizabeth Hospice blessed Sam and us as his family with an exceptional amount of support, the care Sam received from the nursing team and doctors was of the highest standard and the hospice became our safe haven! We aim to help these incredible people to offer the same level support to more patients and their families when facing what are the most difficult days of their lives! Sam Mac, what an inspiration! His strength and infectious smile amazed not only those who loved him but also every person who came into contact with him during his time at St Elizabeth! Sam was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2011, and from this point onward faced an incredibly difficult journey.....although, he was quite proud to say he had been through an 'awake craniotomy'. Although being told at diagnosis that his tumour was incurable Sam maintained that he was going to 'live with cancer, rather than die from it' and often said that life was about 'enjoying the ride' so he carried on living his life and his positive attitude would allow us to forget on occasions that inside his head, he was so unwell! During those final weeks Sam's tumour took so much away from him, yet he still smiled - amazing! Sam never complained and was so touched by the care and friendship he was given by the nurses, Sam's room was often roaring with laughter when the nurses or doctors were with him, his sense of humour was outrageous :-) We know that Sam would want us to do all we can to support these wonderful people, helping them to continue this level of care and support to many more families! Please help us to raise funds, all of you that know Sam know that he would want to raise more than anyone else ever has, always a winner! For the most loved son, brother, uncle and friend, we miss you terribly! xx
